Certain N-acetonylbenzamides exhibit low phytotoxicity and are useful for control of a wide range of fungi, including phytopathogenic fungi of the classes Oomycetes, Ascomycetes, Deuteromycetes and Basidiomycetes.

reduction in hepatobiliary clearance. A chemical control tracer that could not be cleaved by caspase 3 showed no change in liver accumulation after induction of hepatocyte apoptosis. Our data demonstrate that [18F]-TBD provides an immediate pharmacodynamic readout of liver apoptosis in mice by dynamic PET/CT and suggest that [18F]-TBD could be used to interrogate apoptosis in other disease states.

A method for inhibiting mammalian cell growth is disclosed. The method uses compounds known as N-acetonylarylamides. The compounds have been shown to inhibit cell mitosis and to inhibit microtubule assembly. The method may be used to treat diseases associated with rapid cell growth, particularly cancer. The compounds used in the method of the present invention may be used in combination with other therapies and may be administered by known techniques for drug administration.

Certain N-acetonylbenzamides and their use as fungicides are disclosed. The N-acetonylbenzamides disclosed contain a heterocyclic ring fused to an aromatic ring. These compounds are particularly effective against phytopathogenic fungi of the class Oomycetes. Also disclosed is a method for controlling phytopathogenic fungi by applying one or more of the heterocyclic N-acetonylbenzamides of the present invention, optionally with one or more additional fungicidal compounds.
A method for controlling algae and marine fouling organisms is described. The method employs N-acetonylbenzamides compounds provided in an effective amount to kill or inhibit the growth of the algae or fouling organisms.
