Dispersant viscosity improvers for lubricating oil compositions comprise reaction product of higher molecular weight olefinic reactants with carboxylic reactants of the formula R3C(O)(R4)nC(O)OR5 (IV) or the corresponding acetals, hemiacetals, ketals, and hemiketals thereof which is then reacted with at least one of ammonia, a hydrazine or an amine.
