Abstract A thiazole-based chalconoid ligand (E)-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1-(thiazol-2-yl)prop-2-en-1-one (HPTP) and its Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes have been synthesized. The synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, UV-vis., FT-IR, NMR, mass spectral techniques, magnetic susceptibility, powder XRD and SEM with EDAX.
