Asymmetric catalytic carbon–carbon bond formations in a fluorous biphasic system based on perfluoroalkyl-BINOLs
active 1,1′-binaphthols (BINOLS) substituted at the 4,4′; 6,6′ and 4,4′,6,6′ positions with perfluoroalkyl groups have been synthesized. Asymmetric diethylzinc and triethylaluminum addition to aryl aldehydes in a fluorous biphasic system catalyzed by these perfluoroalkyl-BINOL–titanium complexes have been accomplished with good enantiomeric excess obtained.
