    Ethyl (tributylstannyl)acetate adds chemoselectively to acylpyridinium salts to yield a variety of dihydropyridines with diverse functional groups. These compounds are useful precursors for the preparation of a variety of N-heterocycles. The regiochemistry of the reaction is addressed and the results are rationalized based on the HSAB principle.

    (EN) This invention relates to a method of preparation of 1,2-dihydropyridine compounds having structure (1), which comprises reacting a compound having structure (2), with (R2)3Sn(CR3R4)nCO2R5 and XCO2R6. The reaction is performed under suitable reaction conditions and in an appropriate solvent so as to form the 1,2-dihydropyridine compound. In a similar manner 1,2-dihydroquinolines, dihydroisoquinolines, dihydropyridones, dihydroquinolones and dihydroisoquinolones may also be prepared. The invention is also directed to compounds prepared by this method.(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation de composés de 1,2-dihydropyridine dont la structure est représentée par la formule (1). Ce procédé fait intervenir la réaction d'un composé dont la structure est représentée par la formule (2) avec (R2)3Sn(CR3R4)nCO2R5 et XCO2R6. La réaction a lieu sous forme des conditions appropriées de réaction et dans un solvant approprié favorisant la formation du composé de 1,2-dihydropyridine. Un procédé analogue permet également de préparer des 1,2-dihydroquinoléines, dihydroisoquinoléines, dihydropyridones, dihydroquinolones et dihydroisoquinolones. La présente invention s'applique élagement aux composés préparés selon ce procédé.
