Four phytotoxic bi- and tri-cyclic sesquiterpene lactones, named inuloxins A-D, were isolated together with the known α-costic acid, from the aerial parts of Inula viscosa (family Asteraceae), a widespread Mediterranean plant well known for its content of pharmacologically active metabolites.
