Low molecular weight acetal, alcohol, O-acylated alcohol and ester compounds are identified that block the odor of specific carboxylic acids especially propionic acid, butyric acid, isovaleric acid 3-methyl-2-hexenoic acid and hexanoic acid. These compounds exhibit surprisingly high odor blocking properties and are therefore useful additives to compositions such as: a) personal care products including underarm deodorant and antiperspirant, hair shampoo and conditioner, toilet soap, and skin lotion; b) fabric care products including laundry detergents, fabric conditioners, and fabric fresheners; c) pet care products including deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and d) home care products including air fresheners, carpet fresheners, surface cleaners and hand wash dish detergent.
A flying insect trap is provided which utilizes a combination of colors that is highly attractive to flying insects and thereby achieving high attracting performance and catching performance. The flying insect trap includes a sticky sheet 30 which sticks to the flying insect, a main part 10 on which the sticky sheet 30 is placed, a cover part 20 which is attached to cover the sticky sheet 30, and an entrance 40 provided in the cover part 20, through which the flying insect enters. When the cover part 20 is attached to the main part 10, an internal space S which accommodates the sticky sheet 30 is formed between the main part 10 and the cover part 20. The internal space S is in communication with an external environment infested with the flying insect through the entrance 40. The sticky sheet 30 has an islands-in-sea pattern including a background region P having a color of Hue No. n1 [n1: 4 (reddish orange) - 6 (yellowish orange)] of the PCCS color wheel and a plurality of island-like portions Q having a color of Hue No. (n2 + 2) - (n2 + 4) [n2 ← n1: 6 (yellowish orange) - 10 (yellow-green)] of the PCCS color wheel.
