    The present invention relates to a colorant as a precursor of inks for ink-jet printing or for display of a color filter, a dispersion containing the colorant, and an ink, more specifically relates to colored resin particles which are excellent in color developability of printed matters, transparency and gloss, and can produce images having an excellent image fastness such as light resistance, water resistance and fixing property, and further which can exhibit an excellent storage stability by itself upon preparing an ink, and is free from clogging of a print head and is excellent in ejection stability upon printing; a water-based dispersion containing the colored resin particles, and an ink for ink-jet printing or an ink for color filter. There are provided colored resin particles which comprise a composite resin, a water-insoluble colorant and water-insoluble inorganic fine particles, wherein the composite resin is a complex of at least one hydrophilic resin and at least one hydrophobic resin which are respectively selected from the group consisting of styrene acrylic resins, silicone resins, polyester resins and urethane resins; a water-based dispersion containing the colored resin particles; an ink for ink-jet printing; and an ink for color filter.

    Cyan, magenta and yellow pigment-based ink compositions for ink jet printing are described; wherein the ink compositions each comprise a pigment, water, water miscible humectants and/or water-miscible organic co-solvents, surfactants, or mixtures thereof; wherein the normalized differential specular reflectance, N&Dgr;R S (X), for the cyan, magenta and yellow inks is less than 1.25, 0.50 and 0.30, respectively. N&Dgr;R S (X) is defined as the maximum value within a set of N&Dgr;R S (Xn) values in which each N&Dgr;R S (Xn) is the normalized specular reflectance for a density patch of a printed test image.
