    This work describes an electrochemically promoted nickel-catalyzed deoxygenative thiolation of alcohols and ketones under mild conditions. Excellent substrate tolerance and good chemical yields can be achieved by graphene/nickel foam electrodes in an undivided cell. Further study to gain mechanistic insight into this electrochemical cross-coupling has been carried out.

    A highly effective synthesis of 2,3-fused pyrroles from cyclic ketones has been achieved. The transformation includes a rhodium-catalyzed reaction of 4-alkenyl-1-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles featuring an unusual 4π electrocyclization. The methodology was further extended to the synthesis of indoles using a one-pot reaction starting from 1-ethynylcyclohexenes.

    Steric effects on the deprotonative generation of cyclohexynes and 1,2-cyclohexadienes from cyclohexenyl triflates are described. A cyclohexenyl triflate, which is readily available from nonsubstituted cyclohexanone, was selectively converted to cyclohexyne using magnesium bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidide) as base.     A straightforward and efficient synthesis of α,β-unsaturated thioesters has been developed via a nickel-catalyzed thiocarbonylation reaction of vinyl triflates with arylsulfonyl chlorides.
