Organomercury(II)(RHg+, R; ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl) forms two kinds of water-soluble complexes, RHgq and RHg(q)(OH)−, with 8-quinolinol(oxine Hq). These complex-formation reactions are studied by means of spectrophotometry, and the formation constants of these complexes, RHgOH, RHgOAc, and RHg(OH)(OAc)−, in 4%(v/v) ethanol at the ionic strength of 0.1 are determined.
