Palladium complexes supported on hybrid organic-inorganic zirconium phosphite: selectivity in the Heck reaction

Supported palladium complex on zirconium phosphite-phosphonate was made from triphenylphosphine phosphonic acid. The supported catalyst showed significant selectivity in the competitive Heck reaction between iodobenzene and different iodobenzoates. The reaction seems to rake place between the lamellar of the catalyst. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
Ph2P(4-C6H4PO3Et2) (ligand L′) were used to prepare different complexes of platinum(II) (1, cis-PtCl2L2; 2, trans-PtCl2L2·H2O; 3A and 3B, cis- and trans-PtCl2L′2) and palladium(II) (4, [PdCl2L]2; 5, trans-PdCl2L2·H2O; 6, trans-PdCl2L′2·CH2Cl2). The highly water-soluble phosphine Na2[TPPMP]·1.5H2O (TPPMP =‘triphenylphosphine monophosphonate’) represents the first example of a compound containing an aryl ring which is substituted by both phosphine and anionic phosphonate moieties; the preparation and spectroscopic characterisation of the platinum(II) complexes (trans-and cis-Na4[PtCl2(TPPMP)2]·3H2O is described.

Tertiary phosphines of the formula (I) ##STR1## in which X is a phosphinate or phosphonate group, are prepared by a palladium-catalyzed coupling of p-, m- or o-bromofluorobenzenes with alkyl akylphosphonous acid ester or alkyl alkylphosphite ester and reacting the resulting alkyl fluorophenylphosphinates or alkyl fluorophenylphosphonates with a metal phosphide.
