Reaction of N‐arylisoindolines with benzyne afforded predominantly 10‐arylisoindolo[2,1‐f]phenanthridines. On the other hand, N‐arylisoindolines react with dimethylacetylenedicarboxylate to give dimethyl 2‐(2‐aryl‐2H‐isoindol‐1‐yl)fumarates. Possible reaction mechanisms are discussed. J. A diisopropylcarbodiimide (DIC) mediatedsmalllibrary of thiazolidin‐4‐one and 1,3‐Thiazinan‐4‐one derivatives were efficiently synthesized using one pot three component condensation of amino acid, aldehyde, and mercapto carboxylic acid on a polymer support.
