  Disclosed herein is an optically active (-)-triazole derivative represenbted by the general formula (I), which has a configuration that R ¹ and the substituted or non-substituted phenylmethyl group are bonded to the cis positions of the hydroxyl group and R² is bonded to the trans position of the hydroxyl group, wherein one of R¹ and R² denotes a C₃ - C₄ branched alkyl group and the other denotes a hydrogen atom, and X denotes a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom. An agricultural and horticultural composition having a fungicidal activity or a plant growth regulating activity, comprising the triazole derivative represented by the above-mentioned general formula (I) is also disclosed.
