  AbstractA direct synthesis of 2‐acylthiophenes has been developed through palladium‐catalyzed addition of thiophenes to nitriles. The reaction proceeded well under the palladium(II) acetate/2,2′‐bipyridine system and using D‐(+)‐camphorsulfonic acid as the additive.
