    Aryl halides were prepared by condensation of 2-methylquinoline and bromo- or chloro-arylaldehydes in acetic anhydride. Diarylamines reacted with the aryl halides to afford novel triarylamine derivatives using Pd(OAc)2/P (o-tolyl)3 as catalyst.     The present invention is to prevent the rapid viscosity rise generated at the time of dissolving or dispersing in a solvent a polymer obtained by reacting a material polymer having an acidic functional group and a hydroxyl group in the principal chain part with an isocyanate compound, in particular, a photo-curing polymer obtained by reaction with a radical polymerizable group-containing isocyanate compound. A highly stable polymer can be obtained by reacting a material polymer having a principal chain including at least a component unit having an acidic functional group and a component unit having a hydroxyl group with an isocyanate compound, and further reacting the same with an alcohol. Moreover, by producing a material polymer using a non-nitrile azo-based or peroxide-based polymerization initiator and/or introducing an isocyanate compound using a polymerization inhibitor selected from the compounds represented by the above-mentioned formulae (10) and (16), the transparency can be improved. A photo-curing polymer obtained in the present invention is suited for forming a protection film of a color filter and a column-like spacer of a liquid crystal panel.

    It is an object of the present invention to provide an alkali-soluble maleimide-based copolymer excellent in resistance for thermally yellowing, high in hardness, excellent in solubility in solvents and capable of readily forming uniform coat films and, in addition, capable of being satisfactorily dissolved in alkali water when remaining uncured, as well as a pigment dispersion composition comprising such copolymer and an ionizing radiation-curable resin composition comprising such copolymer. Another object of the present invention is to provide a color filter and a liquid crystal display which are formed by using the ionizing radiation-curable resin composition. The present invention is related to an alkali-soluble maleimide-based copolymer which comprises, as essential constituents, 5 to 50% by mass of a maleimide monomer unit which is at least one unit selected from the group consisting of a N-cyclohexylmaleimide monomer unit, a N-benzylmaleimide monomer unit and a substituted N-benzylmaleimide monomer unit, 8 to 30% by mass of the (meth)acrylic acid monomer unit and 30 to 87% by mass of a (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer unit and which satisfies the condition represented by the formula: 0.4×X≦Y≦0.5×X+10 where X is the content, in % by mass, of the N-cyclohexylmaleimide monomer unit, the N-benzylmaleimide monomer unit and the substituted N-benzylmaleimide monomer unit and Y is the content, in % by mass, of the (meth)acrylic acid monomer unit.

    There are provided: a curable resin composition having a high exposure sensitivity and a good developing property, and thereby capable of forming an accurate and precise pattern; a liquid crystal panel substrate on which a protective film for covering a color layer or spacers for a liquid crystal layer, by using the curable resin composition, hardly causing a color irregularity and contrast irregularity; and a liquid crystal panel using the liquid crystal panel substrate and having a superior display quality. The curable resin composition of the present invention comprises: a copolymer (a) having a molecular structure in which a constitutional unit including an acidic functional unit and a constitutional unit including a photocurable functional group are linked at least; a photopolymnerization initiator (b) having a tertiary amine structure; and a photocurable compound (c) having at least one acidic functional group and at least three photocurable functional groups.
