  通过7-溴-3-乙基硫基-4,5合成了一系列取代的1,2-二氢-6-氧代-吡咯并[3,2,1-ij]喹啉-5-羧酸，用于治疗全身性感染-二氟-2-甲基吲哚（3），由加斯曼的吲哚合成制备，收率很好。测试了合成的吡咯并喹啉的抗菌活性。8-氟-1,2-二氢-2-甲基-9-（4-甲基-1-哌嗪基）-6-氧代-6H-吡咯并[3,2,1-ij]喹啉-5-羧酸对革兰氏阳性和革兰氏阴性细菌有很强的抗菌活性。
