  (+)-paeoniflorigenone, representative monoterpenes of Paeoniae Radix, have been accomplished starting with R-(−)-carvone via lipase catalyzed highly diastereoselective enzymatic acetylation. The latter synthesis also means the first total synthesis of (+)-paeonisuffral, a new monoterpene recently isolated from Moutan Cortex.
