n method was developed with no need for trifluoromethoxylation reagent. This method relies on the in-situ generation of fluorophosgene and its conversion into OCF3 anion to achieve nucleophilicsubstitution on a series of alkyliodides.
We describe the preparation, by the means of an initial fluorodesulfurization reaction, of 2-trifluoromethoxy acetophenone as well as β-trifluoromethoxystyrenes derivatives. The synthesis and reactivity of these compounds are discussed in relation to the perturbation induced by the aliphatic trifluoromethoxy group.

Silyl enol ether substrates react to form either α-(trifluoromethoxy)ketones or OCF3-containing silyl enol ethers depending on the solvent used while allyl silanes afford unprecedented allyl(trifluoromethyl)ethers.
