Hydrogenation: An Orthogonal Entry into “Second‐Generation” Ruthenium Carbene Catalysts for Olefin Metathesis

The newly discovered light‐driven gem hydrogenation of alkynes opens an unconventional yet efficient entry into five‐coordinate Grubbs‐type ruthenium carbene complexes with cis‐disposed chloride ligands.
