novel reactivity of sulfur ylides has been demonstrated in a transition-metal-free protocol to access ortho-substituted thioanisole derivatives by insertion of arynes into a C–S σ-bond in moderate to good yields. The reactioninvolves the formation of C–C and C–S bonds and consecutive breaking of two C–S bonds under operationally mild reaction conditions.

α-Alkylthio-substituted α,β-unsaturated 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds with three different functionalities are easily available through condensation of sulfonium salts and various aromatic or aliphatic glyoxal hydrates catalyzed by Na2SeO3 or a combination of selenium dioxide and Na2CO3.
A highly diastereoselective cyclopropanation of α,β,γ,δ‐unsaturated pyrazolones is reported. This method affords a vinylcyclopropane‐fused pyrazolone framework by a 1,6‐addition/substitution sequence providing excellent regio‐ and chemoselectivity, good yields, broad functional group tolerance and gram‐scale capacity.

Metal-Free [5 + 1] Cycloaddition–Aromatization of Benzotriazoles and Sulfur Ylides to Construct 1,2,4-Benzotriazines
4-benzotriazine derivates with good yield. This new protocol does not employ any transition metal reagent and enables the cycloaddition by cleavage of the N–N single bond. The use of inexpensive and readily available starting materials, a broad substrate scope, mild reaction conditions, metal-free, and versatile functionalization of the 1,2,4-benzotriazines make this strategy more attractive.
