  The rates of reversion to ketones for three diastereomeric cyanohydrins have been measured in 95% ethanol. Two diastereomers in which the cyanohydrin nitrile is in an axial position react at comparable rates; the third cyanohydrin, in which the nitrile is equatorial, reacts more than fifty times more slowly.
