The regioselectivity of the cycloaddition of 1,1-dicyclopropylallene (1) with diethy methylenemalonate (2d) was markedly influenced by the solventpolarity and the presence of a Lewis-acid catalyst suggesting that a polar mechanism is operating in preferential formation of the inner adduct (3).
