  The thermal and Lewis acid catalyzed intramolecular Diels-Alder reactions of 1 (n = 5–11) have been studied. The catalyzed reactions efficiently form 7–11 membered rings and produce mainly cis adducts. Lewis acids prevent the five-membered ring forming reaction.
