A novel bipolar molecule, 3,8-bis[4-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl]-1,10-phenanthroline (CZPT) was synthesized and employed as the host in phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). A maximum luminance of 7000 cd/m2 was achieved using fac-tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium (Ir(ppy)3) as the emitting material.
