such as dimethylamine and they react with Grignard reagents to give αβ-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones in good yield by 1,4-addition followed by elimination. The generality of this procedure is contrasted with reactions based either on the use of organolithium nucleophiles, or the use of 4-alkoxy-αβ-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones as electrophilic partners.
A novel N,N-dibenzyl diaminomethylenemalononitrile organocatalyst efficiently promotes asymmetric Henry reactions of trifluoromethyl enones with nitromethane, affording the corresponding highly functionalized products in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 90% ee).
A squaramide organocatalyst efficiently promoted the asymmetric Friedel–Crafts alkylation of α,β-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones with aromatic alcohols in a one-pot procedure, affording corresponding 6-trifluoromethyl-substituted 7,8-dihydrochromen-6-ol derivatives (up to 94% yield, 74% ee).

The aldol reaction of methylketones and alpha,beta-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones occurred under mild conditions with the combination of proline-derived N-sulfonylamide and trifluoroacetic acid as the catalyst to give the corresponding unsaturated alpha-trifluoromethyl tertiary alcohols in high yields with good enatioselectivities.
