  Abstract The reinvestigation of Helenium puberulum afforded in addition to known compounds two new sesquiterpene lactones, desacetyl-isobigelovin and a guaianolide, and an anomalic sesquiterpene hydroxy acid. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Chemotaxonomic aspects are discussed briefly.
