  The present invention provides a semi-synthetic sesquiterpene lactone parthenin compound of general formula 1, useful for cytotoxicity against cancer cell lines and anticancer activity. According to another aspect of the invention provides a pharmaceutical composition composing the said compound. The present invention further provides a therapeutically effective dose of the said composition and a method of treating cancer in a subject by adjninisjering the effective amount of esquiterpene lactone parthenin compound or pharmaceutical composition thereof by oral, nasal, intra-peritoneal, or intravenous.
