    Abstract The first approach to a general synthesis of (14)-β- d -xylo-oligosaccharides is described. Thus, 1,2,3-tri- O -acetyl-4- O -benzyl-β- d -xylopyranose was treated with hydrogen bromide in dichloromethane to give the corresponding glycosyl bromide 3 , which was condensed with 1,2,3-tri- O -acetyl-β- d -xylopyranose.
