A variety of substituted benzo[g]quinoline‐5,10‐dione derivatives were synthesized via one‐pot three‐component reaction of 2‐hydroxynaphthalene‐1,4‐dione, aromatic aldehydes, and (E)‐3‐aminobut‐2‐enoates using carbonaceous material as the heterocyclic catalyst. Facile, four-component, domino reactions for the regioselective synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[g]quinolines
4-naphthaquinone, aromatic aldehydes, methyl/ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate in ethanol undermicrowaveirradiation at 100 °C afforded tetrahydrobenzo[g]quinoline-5,10-diones regioselectively in good yields. This transformation presumably proceeds via α,β-unsaturated triketone generation/Michael addition/regioselective annulation via intramolecular condensation domino sequence.
