Synthesis of Trialkylsilylated α-Hydroperoxy Aldehydes and Ketones via Ozonolysis of Protected Allylic Hydroperoxides

α-Silylperoxy aldehydes and ketones 3 have been prepared by ozonolysis of silyl-protected allylic hydroperoxides, followed by subsequent reduction of the latter with dimethyl sulfide. Deprotection of silylperoxy aldehydes 3a-c with fluoride ion led to decomposition with chemiluminescence.
Reaction of alkyl hydroperoxides (1ary, 2ary or 3ary) upon tertiary alkyl trichloroacetimidates under acidic catalysis yielded unsymetrical dialkyl peroxides with yields in the range 30-70%.
Perfluorocarbons as Novel Reaction Media for Photooxidation Reactions

Perfluorocarbons are excellent alternatives to chlorinated solvents as non-toxic, non-ozone-depleting, inert reaction media for photooxidation reactions. Essentially quantitative yields of peroxide products are obtained and the perfluorocarbon solvents are easily recovered and recycled.
