Reaction of [Pt(cod)2](cod = cyclo-octa-1,5-diene) with [Pt(η2-CF3C2CF3)(cod)] affords a mixture of two isomers [Pt2µ-(η2-CF3C2CF3)}(cod)2] and [Pt2µ-(η1-CF3C2CF3)}(cod)2]; treatment of the latter or [Pt2µ-(η1-4,4â²-MeOC6F4C2C6F4OMe)}(cod)2] with HBF4 gives cationic bridged hydrides, which rearrange to form diplatinum bridged vinyl compounds.
