Stereochemical Evidence for a Concerted Displacement Mechanism in Acidic Aromatic Alkylations. The Nuclear Alkylation of Phenols with α-Phenethyl Chloride1
A H3PO3-catalyzed alkylation of phenols with alkenes is achieved in a facile, efficient, and selective manner. The reaction shows a unique selectivity, i.e., excellent regioselectivity, thorough suppression of overalkylation, without alkylation of a simple phenyl ring, and can selectively provide ortho-, meta-, or para-alkylated phenol derivatives in good to excellent yields. This feature along with

well-defined cationic Ru-H complex catalyzes the dehydrative C-H alkylation reaction of phenols with alcohols to form ortho-substituted phenol products. Benzofuran derivatives are efficiently synthesized from the dehydrative C-H alkenylation and annulation reaction of phenols with 1,2-diols. The catalytic C-H coupling method employs cheaply available phenols and alcohols, exhibits a broad substrate scope, tolerates
The present invention relates to active delivery system formulations, and methods of making and using the same. Said formulations, when applied to a substrate surface, form a protective coating on the surface and permit constituent active agents to act on the surface and in the surrounding medium.
