    There is disclosed chiral copper complex catalyst composition, which is obtained by contacting an optically active N-salicylideneaminoalcohol compound of formula (1): 1 with a mono-valent or di-valent copper compound in an inert solvent, wherein R 1 and R 2 represent an alkyl group and the like, X 1 and X 2 represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a cyano group or the like, and the amount of the mono-valent or di-valent copper compound is less than 1 mole per 1 mole of the optically active N-salicylideneaminoalcohol compound of formula (1), and a process for producing an optically active cylopropane-carboxylic acid ester using the same.

    A metallized mesoporous silicate which is obtained by (i) reacting (a) either a metal peroxide obtained by the reaction of an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution with at least one metal or metal compound selected from the group consisting of the following 1) to 4) 1) tungsten 2) molybdenum 3) vanadium 4) compounds comprising 4 a ) any of tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium and 4 b ) at least one element selected from Groups 13 to 16 (excluding oxygen) or a solution of the metal peroxide with (b) a silicon compound in the presence of an alkylamine or a quaternary ammonium salt and separating the resultant silicate; and a process for producing the metallized mesoporous silicate. Also provided is a method of organic synthesis with the silicate.

    An optically active chrysanthemic acid or ester thereof is conveniently racemized with an aluminum bromide compound such as aluminum tribromide. An organic hydroperoxide should also be used for racemization of an ester, but is not always necessary for racemization of the acid.

    Racemization of optically active chrysanthemic acid or its ester of the formula: wherein R represents hydrogen atom or an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl group of 1-20 carbon atoms and * indicates asymmetric carbon atom, is effected by contacting it with hydrogen bromide or a phosphorus bromide compound. This method may also be effected in the presence of a peroxide or an azo compound. Further, the method of the present invention can also be used for conversion of racemic cis isomer or racemic mixture of cis and trans isomers of chrysanthemic acid into corresponding racemic trans-rich isomer.
