Deltic acid (dihydroxycyclopropenone, 5) has been prepared by reaction of 1-butanol and bis(trimethylsiloxy)cyclo- propenone (9), which was obtained by photoiytic decarbonylation of bis(trimethylsiloxy)cyclobutenedione. Dilithium deltate (lb) has also been synthesized from 9 and lithium rerf-butoxide. The structure of 5 was established by its conversion to di- methoxycyclopropenone, and lb was identified
