    Steroidal bivalent ligands for the estrogen receptor (ER) were designed using crystal structures of ER alpha dimers as a template. The syntheses of several 17 alpha-ethynylestradiol-based bivalent ligands with varying linker compositions and lengths are described. The binding affinities of these bivalent ligands for ERa and ER beta were determined. In the two series of bivalent ligands that we synthesized, there is a clear correlation between linker length and binding affinity, both of which reach a maximum at the same tether length. Further studies are underway to explore aspects of bivalent ligand and control compound binding to the ERs and their effects on ER dimer formation; these results will be reported in a subsequent publication.     Esters are prepared from hydroxyl-containing compounds and carboxylic acids or anhydrides or lower alkyl esters thereof using a multiple catalyst approach, wherein a first catalyst such as an organotin catalyst can be present at the beginning of the reaction and a second catalyst such as an organotitanium catalyst can be added any time after the addition of the first catalyst, or when the acid value of the reaction mixture falls below a predetermined acid value. The second catalyst can be added multiple times, and a third or additional catalysts can also be used.

    Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von kompakten oder zelligen Polyurethan-Elastomeren durch Umsetzung von a) organischen Polyisocyanaten, vorzugsweise in Form von NCO-Gruppen enthaltenden Prepolymeren und/oder modifizierten Urethangruppen enthaltenden organischen Polyisocyanaten mit b) höhermolekularen Verbindungen mit mindestens 2 reaktiven Wasserstoff­atomen, vorzugsweise Polyester- oder Polyether-polyolen und gegebenenfalls c) Kettenverlängerungs- und/oder Vernetzungsmitteln in Gegenwart von d) Katalysatoren und gegebenenfalls e) Treibmitteln, f) Hilfsmitteln und/oder Zusatzstoffen, wobei als Katalysatoren vorteilhafterweise 0,1 bis 10 Gew.-Teile eines Polyester-polyols, bezogen auf 100 Gew.-Teile der Komponente b) verwendet werden, das hergestellt wird durch Polykondensation von organischen Polycarbonsäuren mit mehrwertigen Alkoholen in Gegenwart von 0,002 bis 5 Gew.% mindestens einer Titan- und/oder Zinnverbindung, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Polykondenastionsgemisches, als Katalysator bei Temperaturen von 150 bis 250°C sowie die Verwendung dieses Katalysators zur Herstellung von Kunststoffen nach dem Polyisocyanat-Polyadditionsverfahren, vorzugsweise von Polyurethan-Kunststoffen.

    The present invention relates to a two-component, aqueous polyurethane coating composition which may be cured at ambient temperature and which contains I) a first component based on an aqueously dispersed polyurethane wherein the polyurethane has a) an average hydroxy functionality of at least 1.8, b) a total content of urethane and urea groups, calculated as -NH-CO- (molecular weight = 43), of 9 to 20% by weight, based on the weight of the polyurethane, c) sufficient chemically incorporated anionic and d) ethylene oxide units incorporated within terminal and/or lateral polyether chains, to maintain the polyurethane stably dispersed in water, II) a second component based on a water dispersible polyisocyanate wherein the polyisocyanate has a) an isocyanate content of 2 to 30% by weight, based on the weight of the polyisocyanate, b) an average functionality of at least 1.8, c) sufficient chemically incorporated anionic groups and d) ethylene oxide units incorporated within terminal and/or lateral polyether chains, to maintain the polyisocyanate stably dispersed in water, and components I and II are present in an amount sufficient to provide an equivalent ratio of isocyanate groups to hydroxyl groups of 0.8:1 to 6:1, and III) optionally up to 20% by weight, based on the weight of components I and II, of a polyol which has a molecular weight of 62 to 1000 and may contain ether groups. The present invention is also directed to the coatings prepared from these coating compositions.
