The synthesis, application and X-ray crystal structures of two enantiomerically pure dihydrobenzazaphosphole-borane complexes, precursors of ligands for highly enantioselective palladium catalysed allylic substitution reactions, are described. The structures provide the basis for an explanation of the observed stereochemistry.
