A Catalytic Enantiotopic-Group-Selective Suzuki Reaction for the Construction of Chiral Organoboronates

Catalytic enantiotopic-group-selective cross-couplings of achiral geminal bis(pinacolboronates) provide a route for the construction of nonracemic chiral organoboronates. In the presence of a chiral monodentate taddol-derived phosphoramidite ligand, these reactions occur with high levels of asymmetric induction. Mechanistic experiments with chiral B-10-enriched geminal bis(boronates) suggest that the reaction occurs by a stereochemistry-determining transmetalation that occurs with inversion of configuration at carbon.

A rapid and practicalsynthesis of gem-dibromoalkanes has been developed. A variety of alkyl and aromatic aldehydes are converted into their corresponding gem-dibromoalkanes within 10 minutes by using tribromide reagent. The protocol is also appliable to the bromination of alcohols, accessing alkyl bromides with inversion of configuration.

Aromatic compounds having an alkyl group with at least 3 carbon atoms are produced in a process comprising at least one of the following steps:
(1) a step of contacting a starting material that contains an aromatic compound having a branched alkyl group with at least 3 carbon atoms, with a zeolite-containing catalyst in a liquid phase in the presence of hydrogen therein, thereby changing the position of the carbon atoms of the alkyl group bonding to the aromatic ring of the compound;
(2) a step of contacting a starting material that contains an aromatic compound having a branched alkyl group with at least 3 carbon atoms, with a catalyst containing zeolite and containing rhenium and/or silver, in a liquid phase, thereby changing the position of the carbon atoms of the alkyl group bonding to the aromatic ring of the compound;
(3) a step of contacting a halogenated aromatic compound having an alkyl group with at least 3 carbon atoms, with an acid-type catalyst, thereby isomerizing the compound; and
(4) a step of treating a mixture of isomers of an aromatic compound having an alkyl group with at least 3 carbon atoms, with a zeolite adsorbent that contains at least one exchangable cation selected from alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, lead, thallium and silver, thereby separating a specific isomer from the isomer mixture through adsorption.

The present invention provides an isocyanate composition including an isocyanate compound having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, a compound represented by formula (1) (in the formula, R1 represents an a-valent organic group, R2 represents a monovalent organic group, a represents an integer of 1 or 2), and/or a compound having a UV absorption in a spectral region of a decamer or higher isocyanate measured by gel permeation chromatography; and an isocyanate composition including an isocyanate compound having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, or a compound having at least one unsaturated bond other than an unsaturated bond constituting an aromatic ring or an inert compound such as a hydrocarbon compound or the like and having a carbon-carbon unsaturated bond other than an unsaturated bond constituting an aromatic ring; or the like.
