  Syntheses of bicyclo[5.3.1]undec-7-en-11-one and bicyclo[5.3.1] undec-7(11)-en-8-one are described and the IR, NMR, and UV properties are compared. The chemical properties of the former are also discussed. Evidence is adduced to show that, as predicted, the latter is the more strained and contains a warped double bond.
