Pure α-methoxyvinyllithium, prepared from Sn/Li exchange, reacts cleanly with representative trialkylboranes, to form the corresponding “ate” complexes. These complexes rearrange in the presence of chlorotrimethylsilane (TMSCl) to provide an efficient route to Markovnikov vinylboranes which are isolable in 70–90% yields.
