  已开发了无过渡金属且温度依赖性的芳烃与2个H-叠氮基的高度选择性反应，可合成N-未取代或N-芳基吲哚。在60°C下，由2-（三甲基甲硅烷基）芳基三氟甲磺酸酯生成的芳烃平稳地插入2 H-叠氮基，形成高选择性的2,3-二芳基吲哚。有趣的是，当反应在-10℃下进行时，选择性以高收率切换成1,2,3-三芳基吲哚的形成。
