Dioxy‐gently does it! A new copper‐catalyzed oxidative cross‐coupling reaction between heteroarenes and arylboronicesters has been developed. Uniformly high yields are obtained by using dioxygen as the sole oxidant under mild conditions (see scheme).
Converting oxazoles into imidazoles: new opportunities for diversity-oriented synthesis

We report the optimization of a neglected reaction for the rapid and direct conversion of oxazoles into N-substituted imidazoles. The utility of this microwave-promoted reaction for diversity-oriented synthesis is demonstrated in the preparation of >40 N-substituted imidazoles, including alpha-imidazolyl esters.
catalyzed, CuII-mediated thiolation reaction between heteroarenes and thiols was achieved with good yield under base-free conditions. DMSO could serve as an effective methylthiolation reagent for the synthesis of heterocyclic methyl thioethers.
