The efficient selectiveoxidation and functionalization of CH bonds with molecular oxygen and a copper catalyst to prepare the corresponding ketones was achieved with ethyl chloroacetate as a promoter. In this transformation, various substituted N‐heterocyclic compounds were well tolerated.
