  A series of novel chiral 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones and -thiones (DHPMs) was developed via asymmetric Biginelli reactions catalyzed by a methanopyroline/thiourea - based dual organocatalyst system, providing excellent yield (90-96%) and high enantioselectivities (92-99% ee).
