A new strategy involving dominoKnoevenagel hetero‐Diels‐Alder reaction is described for the preparation of pyrano[3,4‐c]chromenes scaffold. Reaction of O‐propargylated salicylaldehyde with benzoylacetonitrile or Meldrum's acid in the presence of CuI and diammonium hydrogen phosphate affords pyrano[3,4‐c]chromenes with good yields and high bond‐forming efficiency.
