In the presence of a catalytic amount of cobalt(II) acetylacetonate/Xantphos in combination with trimethylaluminum, various ketoalkenes underwent an intramolecular cyclization reaction triggered by cleavage of the allylic C(sp3)−H bond, affording carbocyclic compounds with high regio‐ and diastereoselectivity.
