  fungus involved in ‘Esca’, a trunk wood disease of grapevine. Among the metabolites isolated from the culture medium of this fungus, frustulosin (2a) shows a high phytotoxicity. A new simple and efficient method for the synthesis of frustulosin (2a) and frustulosinol (2b) was developed. Antibacterial activity and phytotoxicity are reported.
