    An insecticidal piperidine alkaloid, (2R,3R,6R)-N-methyl-6-(deca-1',3',5-trienyl)-3-methoxy-2-methylpiperidine, was efficiently synthesized in a stereoselective manner starting from D-alanine. Chiral center at C-6 was controlled by hydrogenation of imine and side chain was introduced by Julia olefination. The absolute configuration of natural product was determined to be 2R, 3R, 6R.     Isomerization of acetylenic pentafluorophenyl esters in the presence of phosphines gives rise to activated dienoic esters, which can be reduced directly in a simple one pot procedure to the corresponding conjugated unsaturated alcohols 6-10.     A method to oxidatively cleave allyl ethers to their corresponding aldehydes mediated by an oxoammonium salt is described. Using a biphasic solvent system and mild heating, cleavage proceeds readily, furnishing a variety of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones.

    Provided is a highly efficient method for the production of aldehydes and ketones, which is inexpensive, exhibits high reactivity, and is capable of easy separation of byproduct after the reaction. More particularly, there is provided a method for producing an aldehyde or a ketone, comprising at least an oxidation step of oxidizing a primary alcohol or a secondary alcohol in the presence of a polymeric carbodiimide represented by the following formula (1) and having a weight-average molecular weight of 300 to 5000, and a sulfoxide compound, together with an acid and a base, or together with a salt of the acid and the base.
