Low-valent titanium alkoxide prepared from Ti(O-i-Pr)4 and i-PrMgCl (1:2) incorporates acetylene to give an acetylene complex, titanacyclopropene, as evidenced by its reaction with deuterium oxide. Carbonyl compounds likewise reacted with the acetylene complex to give allyl alcohols.
