  The syntheses and spectral characteristics of four-directional spherical dendritic macromolecules utilizing an adamantane core have been described. The dendrimer syntheses utilized 4-amino-4-(3-acetoxypropyl)-1,7-diacetoxyheptane or di-tert-butyl 4-amino-2-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)ethyl]heptanedioate as the key building block.
