The epoxidation of geraniol and nerol with one or two moles of peracid leads always to a mixture consisting of the 6,7-epoxide, the 2,3-epoxide and the diepoxide. Starting from the corresponding acetates the epoxidation with two moles of peracid at elevated temperature yields exclusively the diepoxy acetates. The alkaline saponification of the diepoxy acetates leads to four diastereo-isomeric epoxilinalool-oxides
